Schtolteheim Reinbach IIIFrom Gensopedia
BiographyInternationally famed hero of the 'Rose Swordsman' novel, the real Schtolteheim Reinbach III was the son of the Lord of Middleport, Schtolteheim Reinbach II. Endowed with more ethics and morals than his somewhat Machiavellian father, Reinbach was extremely grateful when Lazlo killed his father's hideous sea monster, Little Daisy. He declared Lazlo a friend and took Lazlo to see his father, only to be appalled at his father's dealings with Cray Trading Company. Reinbach II outrightly refused to ally with Lazlo and instead proposed a pact of neutrality. Reinbach III agreed to join Lazlo on his quest, on one condition: Reinbach requested Lazlo to bring to him the Rose Crest he had commissioned from Gareth. After Lazlo completed the task, Reinbach, along with his trust servant, Micky, joined him. On board the Dauntless, Reinbach frequently suffered from sea-sickness, and often rested in the ship's bar beside a worried Micky. His bard, Etienne, also worried and wished his songs could lighten Reinbach's suffering. Reinbach did, however, become very close friends with Charlemagne during their time together on the Dauntless; this friendship led to Charlemagne's appointment as a noble after the war. Although he treated Micky as somewhat of a non-entity, Reinbach did encourage people to read his attempts at writing, feeling it would please Micky greatly. Oddly, Reinbach chooses to wear his hat all the time, even when bathing, and can be quite cagey on the subject when asked, even by friends. On a sojourn in Na-Nal, he and Lazlo saved a young woman, Millay, from capture. After hearing her story, Reinbach realised that his father was responsible for her pursual, as Reinbach II wanted her to marry his son. Reinbach offered his apologies and explained who he was. Although initially shocked, Millay quickly realised that the younger Reinbach was a much more honourable man and grew to respect him more and more during their time fighting alongside Lazlo. Following the Island Liberation War, Reinbach's brave and noble deeds allowed him to return to Middleport with honor, where he succeeded his father as Lord of Middleport. Two years later, his prized Rose Crest was stolen and he sent Charlemagne on a mission to retrieve it. When Charlemagne returned to Middleport, along with Kyril whom assisted him, a grateful Reinbach eagerly agreed to accompany Kyril on his mission to rid the world of Rune Cannons, as he still felt some guilt over his father's past misdeeds. Following the destruction of the Rune Cannons and the Evil Eye, Reinbach returned to his duties as Lord of Middleport. His name spread far and wide through Micky's heavily fictionalised account of his exploits in the 'Rose Swordsman.' Reinbach's name eventually became a common alias, even on the Northern Continent.
