Commander

Rowd (ラウド) is a minor antagonist in Suikoden II who also appears in Suikogaiden Volume 1. The scheming former captain of the Unicorn Brigade regiment of the Highland Army, Rowd fled Highland with his sister when Highland seemed close to collapse. Their exact whereabouts are unknown, but it is known they traveled south.

Biography

Once captain of the Highland Kingdom Unicorn Brigade at Kyaro, Rowd conspired with Luca Blight in his plot to ignite war with Jowston via the massacre of his brigade in order to gain promotion. Rowd hoped that this promotion would help him raise the money needed to help his sister, who was blind, by sending her to the Toran Republic in order to be cured by Liukan.

Following the Unicorn Brigade Massacre and the start of the Dunan Unification War, Rowd was appointed Acting Commander of the Highland 2nd Army and given charge of the siege on Greenhill. His attack was rebuffed, however, by the Greenhill volunteers with the aid of Nash Latkje. Follwing Jowy's appointment as head of the Greenhill operations, Rowd became increasingly suspicious and jealous of his former subordinate.

After Kiba and Klaus Windamier joined the Allied Army, Rowd was appointed commander of what remained of the Highland 3rd Army but his limited capabilites as a military commander led him to act cowardly in battle, keeping his troops back under the guise of monitoring the situation.

When the fall of the Highland Kingdom seemed inevitable, Rowd was said to have disappeared south along with his sister.

Trivia

  • Rowd has the honor of being one of the only villain characters the player will likely never get to defeat. However, if the player over-prepares their characters immensely very early in the game, they CAN defeat him and his company of soldiers at Genkaku's house. However, even if the player wins, the outcome is still the same and you get nothing for your trouble. Rowd will be seen many times over the course of the game, but he will never engage the player directly again.
